Not the cheapest place in town but definitely one of the best and worth all the while. In spite of heavy competition that stretches from North 26 down to North 22 Chutta is busy at lunchtime as well as during the evening hours. The exterior is a flashy red and I particularly like their logo - a red & yellow sun that resembles a talavera sun, one of Mexico’s most popular artesans (see picture), whereas the interior is South East Asian style, with pictures of Sri Lanka, elephants and dark wood all over the place. Relaxing reggae tunes come out of discrete speakers. The menu is extensive and quite interesting. Among the soup curry choices are chicken meat balls, porksteak, bacon & spinach, seafood or chutta’s special chicken. I went for the soup with 14 different kind of vegetables, topped with a handful of fresh mizuno - I wish it had been cilantro though!! There are two choices of rice, white or brown (genmai) , and you can choose on a spicy scale from 1 to 10. I had level 7, it was not very spicy and I’ll have it hotter next time. Portions are decent and there’s the option of rice-oomori as well as soup-oomori (large portion). Prices start from 880 yen and there’s a free drink included at lunchtime (lassi etc.).
