I was lucky enough to stumble upon this parade at dusk a few days ago.
The boys were in casual clothes but the girls were wearing pretty yukata, and they were parading huge illuminated paper mache figures around town.
I thought this piece of art looked spectacular but then ...
... a Japanese gentleman approached me and advised me to go to the other side of the street so to see the front side of the figures. He also explained that this was a junior high school festival. Very enlightening.
I followed his advice and ...
